Why Getting the Right Size Matters
An ill-fitting frame isn't just uncomfortable — it's a distraction. Too large, and you'll be stretched out fighting gravity on climbs. Too small, and you're cramped, your knees banging your elbows with every pedal stroke.
The right size frame does something special: it disappears. You stop thinking about the bike and start thinking about the road, the trail, or your destination.
- Efficiency — optimal leverage, power transfer, and speed
- Comfort — reduced strain on joints and muscles
- Control — confidence and responsiveness
- Longevity — injury prevention through alignment
Two Measurements. That's It.
Just two numbers determine your ideal frame size. Spend 3 minutes measuring now, save months of discomfort later.
1. Your Height (Standing Measurement)
- Stand barefoot with your back flat against a wall
- Have a friend mark the very top of your head
- Measure from floor to mark in centimetres
2. Your Inner Leg Length (Inseam) — The Critical One
This is the primary determinant of your frame size.
- Remove shoes, socks, tight pants recommended
- Stand with back against wall, feet shoulder-width apart
- Place spirit level between legs (as if sitting on a seat)
- Measure from floor to top of level in centimetres
💡 Pro tip: Have a friend help. A 1cm error = a completely different frame size.
BBC Frame Size Chart
Find your size by matching your inseam. If between sizes, use height as secondary reference.
| Size | Height | Inseam | Seat Tube | Top Tube |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 148–163 | 68–74 | 40 | 48 |
| S | 160–173 | 74–80 | 46 | 51 |
| M | 170–183 | 78–86 | 52 | 54 |
| L | 180–193 | 84–92 | 56 | 57 |
| XL | 190–203 | 90–100 | 60 | 60 |
| 2XL | 200+ | 98+ | 64 | 63 |
Understanding Stack & Reach
Not all frames are equal. Two same-size bikes can feel completely different.
Stack
Vertical distance from bottom bracket to head tube
- Higher stack = upright, comfortable
- Lower stack = aggressive, fast
Reach
Horizontal distance from bracket to head tube
- Longer reach = stretched, aerodynamic
- Shorter reach = upright, control
Our Frame Types
Each BBC geometry is tuned for a specific purpose:
Road & Race
- Lower stack, longer reach
- Aggressive position
- Speed & efficiency
- Choose if: Racing or speed-focused
Gravel & All-Road
- Medium stack & reach
- Balanced fast + comfort
- Mixed terrain
- Choose if: Speed AND comfort matter
City & Commute
- Higher stack, shorter reach
- Upright position
- Visibility & control
- Choose if: Comfort is priority
Between Two Sizes?
Use your inseam. It's the primary factor.
Choose the larger frame. More upright position, easier climbing.
Choose the smaller frame. More aggressive, better aerodynamics.

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm between two sizes. Which one?
Answer: Use your inseam. If exactly between, consider your riding style: want comfort? Larger. Want speed? Smaller. Unsure? Email us with measurements.
What if I have long arms/short legs?
Answer: This is why we offer six sizes. Email us with height, inseam, and arm span. We'll recommend the best size and any adjustments (stem, bars).
Can I size up or down for my riding type?
Answer: Yes, carefully. Size up for touring (comfort), down for racing (control). Start with your inseam size, then adjust with stem/bar changes if needed.
I've never built a bike. Does sizing still matter?
Answer: Absolutely. Poor sizing = discomfort AND injury risk. Spend 3 minutes measuring. Save months of problems.
What if my size isn't in stock?
Answer: We can custom-build to unusual sizes. Contact us for timeline and options.
