We filmed a whole bamboo cargo bike, one episode a week
Setting up the jig and plan
A new live build series, following a small bamboo cargo frame from raw tube to finished bike — episode by episode, nothing skipped.
The idea
Most build films jump to the satisfying bits. We wanted to do the opposite: show the whole thing, slowly, in the order it actually happens. So we started a weekly series and pointed the camera at a single project — a small bamboo cargo frame with a 20-inch front wheel, a relaxed and fairly simple shape that still covers a lot of ground.
What we did
We built the frame from scratch and released it one episode a week. The series walks through the real stages of a bamboo build: designing the frame, setting up the jig, mitring the tubes, the front triangle, the rear triangle, then all the binding and the finishing at the end. If you are thinking about building your own, it is a good one to follow — it is the same process we teach in the workshop, just filmed.
Why it matters
Sharing the full method, not just the highlights, is the whole point of Bamboo Bicycle Club: we would rather you understood how to make one than watch us make one. It is the same knowledge-sharing approach that runs through our kits, our workshops and our education and rehabilitation programmes.
