In 2025, Bamboo Bicycle Club formed a Community Interest Company — Bamboo Mobility Project CIC — to run and grow all its education projects. After 13 years of education work, BBC made it official.
The shop and the mission now run as one Community Interest Company: kit sales, workshops and the education programmes all go through the CIC, so the mission has its own legal structure — and access to grants and programme funding unavailable to standard companies.
It came in a year that also brought support from The National Lottery Community Fund, the Investec Beyond Business award, and Financial Times coverage with a public endorsement from Lord Timpson.
2025 was the year BBC stopped describing itself as a bicycle company that sometimes teaches, and started describing itself as what it has always been: an education organisation that builds bicycles.
