BBC Forms an Education CIC: Mission Made Official

At the end of 2025, Bamboo Bicycle Club announced the formation of a Community Interest Company (CIC) specifically to run and grow all its education projects. After 13 years of education work, BBC made it official.

The CIC sits alongside the commercial workshop and kit business, ring-fencing the education mission with its own legal structure — enabling access to grants, programme funding, and impact investment unavailable to standard companies.

The announcement came alongside confirmation of multiple new funders: TNL Community Fund, Big Issue Invest, and Innovate UK's Growth Programme — three major endorsements in one year alongside Investec and the FT/Timpson coverage.

2025 was the year BBC stopped describing itself as a bicycle company that sometimes teaches, and started describing itself as what it has always been: an education organisation that builds bicycles.
