Build by Aurelian for his girlfriend! Nice guy! .
Aurelian built this for his girlfriend. That's the kind of project that raises the stakes — you're not just building for yourself, you're building for someone whose opinion matters more than your own.
She's riding it here, puffer jacket against the chill, heading somewhere in what looks like suburban France. The teal painted lugs pop against natural bamboo, a colour choice that clearly landed well.
Action shots capture what static photos miss: the posture of someone comfortable on their bike, the relaxed grip, the forward lean that says "this is easy." First rides are often awkward. This one clearly isn't.
Building a bike for someone else means guessing at their preferences, asking questions you might not think to ask yourself, paying attention to details that wouldn't bother you but might bother them. When it works, it's the best kind of gift.
The spec is practical: disc brakes for confident stopping, comfortable geometry for daily riding, flat bars for an upright position. This is a bike built for actually using, not posing with.
Aurelian called himself a "nice guy" for doing this. He's underselling it. Building someone a bike is a declaration of care that lasts years longer than flowers or dinners.
Properly thoughtful. Well done, Aurelian. 💚
