Andrew out #bikepacking on his #cx bamboo bike.
Golden hour, wild grass, a loaded bike waiting for its rider to return from somewhere just out of frame. Andrew's bikepacking photo captures everything about why we do this.
The CX bike is set up for adventure: handlebar bag for quick-access items, saddlebag for overnight gear, bottles filled for the long haul. Drop bars silhouette against the fading light, their distinctive curve instantly recognisable.
This is the magic hour that bikepackers chase. When the sun drops low enough to paint everything gold, when the day's riding is done but the evening's camp isn't quite set, when you pause to appreciate where you've arrived.
The bamboo frame almost disappears in the warm tones — natural material blending into natural light. Only the geometry and the bags give away that this is a bicycle rather than abstract countryside art.
Bikepacking strips cycling down to essentials: go far, carry what you need, find somewhere to sleep, repeat. The bike becomes transport and companion, the rhythm of pedalling becomes meditation, the destinations become secondary to the journey.
Andrew built a cyclocross frame that doubles as bikepacking capable. The versatility shows — comfortable for long days, clearance for rough terrain, geometry that works whether you're racing or wandering.
Somewhere past that grass, the night awaits. Adventure continues. 🌅
