Regina, Canada: supporting a school build from 7,000 km away
Context
Most of our schools work happens in the room: an instructor, a bench, a class of students. But the method travels. When a school in Regina, Canada, wanted to build bamboo bikes, we supported them at a distance — without an instructor on the ground.
What we did
We provided remote guidance: answering the students' and teachers' questions directly, and publishing a set of questions and answers on our blog so the build could move forward without us in the room. The students built the bikes; we supported the process from London.
Verified outcome
Students in Regina built bamboo bikes with BBC's remote support. It's one example of how our approach reaches schools in places we can't always travel to in person.
In their words
"We've been helping Regina School in Canada building bamboo bikes. Learn more? Read some questions and answers on our Blog."

Why it matters
Bamboo-bike building isn't tied to one workshop. With the right kit and a clear set of answers to the questions that come up, a class on the other side of the world can build real, rideable bikes. Remote support means distance doesn't have to be the reason a school misses out.
