What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

I wanted a fixed gear bike but wanted one that could handle gravel and buying a new conventional bike was too much money when I had loads of spare parts in the shed. I heard bamboo was pretty comfy from social media influencers. I stumbled on bamboo bicycle club via Google and just went for it.

Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?

Yes it was enjoyable the worst part is the sanding and filling of the wrap to a smooth surface if you want to put a finish on it. By far the most time consuming process.

What did you find most difficult about your bike build?

5% skill 95% sanding. By far the physical and mental fortitude need to sand so much is the hardest part.

What was the easiest part of the build?

The wrap

What advice would you give to other bamboo bike builders and what would you improve if anything?

Don't try to mitre the bamboo quicker with any sort of knife because you'll probably crack the tube.

How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?

The frame has just the right amount of flex for comfort but isn't a noodle when climbing out of the saddle. I now use the bamboo bike for shopping, commuting, and riding with my partner over my kinesis or pinnacle bikes just because its so enjoyable to ride.
