Dan's gravel bike is taking shape...Trying out lots of new and novel things. New modular dropouts, c

Dan's gravel bike is taking shape. Raw bamboo frame on the workbench, modular dropouts fitted, waiting for the next stage.

The workshop wall behind tells its own story. Tools organised on pegboard — saws, clamps, wrenches, screwdrivers — everything within reach. This is a working space, not a showroom.

The technical drawing shows the target geometry. Measurements noted, reference image attached. Building from plans means understanding what you're creating before you create it.

Those modular dropouts are new technology. They allow different wheel configurations, brake options, belt or chain compatibility. The frame becomes more versatile; the builder gains options.

Raw bamboo at this stage shows the material beautifully. No finish obscuring the grain, no paint hiding the construction. This is the moment before aesthetics — when structure is everything.

'Where is the party?' asks a sticker on the wall. Answer: right here, in this workshop, where frames come together. 🔧
