Bamboo #mtb bike built by Shaun from Germany.

Shaun from Germany built this bamboo MTB and took it out in proper winter conditions. Snow-covered field, loaded rack, knobby tyres biting into white.
This is serious touring setup. Rear rack with pannier. Frame bag. The kind of loadout that says 'I'm going somewhere distant and I'm bringing what I need.' Winter touring in Germany requires commitment.
Schwalbe tyres with aggressive tread handle the conditions. Snow demands grip; frozen surfaces demand control. The wide rubber visible here provides both. Flat bars give the steering authority that loaded winter riding requires.
The backdrop is pure German countryside in winter. Distant tree line, flat field, low sun casting long shadows. Cold, quiet, the kind of riding that rewards proper preparation and punishes overconfidence.
Bamboo frames handle cold weather well — the natural material doesn't conduct cold like metal, and the structural properties remain stable across temperature ranges. Shaun is testing that theory properly.
Building a mountain bike and then loading it for winter touring shows confidence in the construction. Shaun trusts the frame he built. The snow doesn't argue. ❄️
