The Macallan team swapped tasting notes for spoke keys
A corporate day with The Macallan, built around one shared idea: good things take craft, patience and your own two hands.
The context
The Macallan has spent decades on a single conviction — that the slow, careful way is the better way. It is the same conviction that sits behind a bamboo frame: natural material, worked by hand, made to last rather than made fast. So when the team came to us for a day out of the office, the brief almost wrote itself.
What we did
We ran one of our corporate team-builds — the same workshop we run for groups in London and across the UK. People who walked in as colleagues spent the day cutting, wrapping and setting bamboo into rideable bicycle frames, side by side, with our frame builders guiding every joint. No spreadsheets, no slideshow. Just a team making something real together in a few hours.
The bikes built on days like this can go on to a second life — donated through our community and prison programmes — so a team-build doubles as social impact.
Why it matters
Every corporate day helps fund the part of our work that does not pay for itself: teaching bamboo bike fabrication inside prisons and in schools. A team builds something together; someone further down the line gets a bike, or a skill, out of it.
Work with us
Corporate team-builds are priced on request. Tell us your date, group size, location and whether you would like the finished bikes donated onward, and we will put a quote together.
