Bamboo Bicycle Club wins Investec Beyond Business 2025

We’re proud to be an Investec Beyond Business 2025 winner

We’re excited to share that Bamboo Bicycle Club has been selected as one of four winning social impact businesses in this year’s Investec Beyond Business (IBB) programme. The cohort—Round Retail, Feeling Social, TrailFam, and Bamboo Bicycle Club—will collectively receive c. £100,000 in funding from Investec, plus ongoing support, counsel and mentorship from Investec colleagues to accelerate our growth as a purpose-driven business.

“A truly inspiring cohort… Each of these social enterprise businesses are focused on addressing important societal issues, delivering meaningful impact in their communities.” — Ruth Leas, CEO, Investec Bank plc

For 15 years, Investec has supported socially driven entrepreneurs in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Hackney as sole funder of the programme—backed by partners including Bromley by Bow Centre. This year’s judging panel included Eve Wagg (Well Grounded and former IBB winner), David Schluter (Fluid IT and former IBB winner), Marc Kahn and Deborah Sayagh from Investec.

Why this matters

At Bamboo Bicycle Club, we help people learn, make, and move—teaching practical skills through bamboo frame building, running community workshops and kits for home builders, and opening up pathways into green crafts and cycle maintenance. This award fuels our next steps:

  • More community builds: Expanding access to hands-on programmes for schools, community groups and rehabilitation settings.

  • Skills & jobs pipeline: Training pathways in sustainable making, bike mechanics and creative manufacturing.

  • Circular design in action: Scaling our bio-based, repairable, low-waste approach to cycling.

What’s next

Over the coming months we’ll be working with Investec mentors to strengthen our operations, measure impact, and scale programmes that create confidence, craft skills and cleaner mobility.

If you’re a school, college, community group or corporate team and want to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Huge thanks to Investec for championing social enterprises that are “out of the ordinary,” to Bromley by Bow Centre for partnership, and to our fellow winners—Round Retail, Feeling Social, and TrailFam. We’re honoured to build alongside you.Media & attribution
