What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

After a long wait, I finally had some space and free time, and a bit of money to purchase the kit.

Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?

This was a super-exciting project. I would recommend to beginners like me to take their time, several weeks with no hurry rather than the 5 days build that experienced builders may reach.

What did you find most difficult about your bike build?

I experienced a lot of difficulties which were most due to my poor workshop (a place in a barn and some old tools I borrowed). Fortunately, James was super available and helped me by email each time it was necessary. The rear triangle is REALLY tricky.

What was the easiest part of the build?

Cutting and shaping the bamboo is super easy and satisfying.

How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?

Even with a carbon fork, riding the bamboo frame is super smooth. I use it for commuting but it is so nice to ride that I will probably use it on longer rides in the future.

What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?

I would try another impregnation method with the resin and flax. And also take more time for the finishing (sanding the joints).
