Part of our workshop includes tubing selection. Unlike conventional tubing bamboo is completely natu

This is where every build starts: choosing your tubes. Down tube, top tube, seat tube, chain stays, seat stays — each one different, each one natural, each one yours to select.

Unlike aluminium or steel tubing that comes identical from a factory, bamboo is completely natural. Every pole grew differently. Wall thickness varies. Diameter changes along the length. Selecting tubes is about matching characteristics to purpose.

Look at the sizes on display: down tube is the largest — it takes the most stress. Top tube is next, providing the main structural triangle. Seat tube holds the seatpost. Chain stays are smaller but crucial for drivetrain alignment. Seat stays are the slimmest, connecting rear wheel to frame.

In our workshop, this wall display helps builders understand what they're working with. You can feel the differences in your hands: the weight, the stiffness, the subtle curve of natural growth. Factory bikes never offer this intimacy with materials.

Part of the workshop experience is standing here, picking up tubes, understanding why one piece suits your build better than another. It's hands-on learning that textbooks can't replicate.

The carbon tubes on the left provide contrast — the modern alternative when specific properties matter more than natural aesthetics. Both materials have their place in frame building.

Every finished frame started with this decision. Choose wisely. 🎋
