Jonathan went ultra-custom on this build adapting our standard kit to achieve a great looking Gravel
Jonathan went ultra-custom, and the result is this: a gravel bike that looks like it cost four figures but rides like it was built just for him — because it was.
Tan sidewall tyres on deep section wheels. It's a combination that shouldn't work but absolutely does. The warmth of the rubber complements the bamboo tubes; the depth of the rims adds visual weight to balance the organic frame.
He adapted our standard kit to achieve this geometry — that's the beauty of building yourself. If you want flared drops, you fit flared drops. If you want specific tyre clearance, you design for it. The frame becomes exactly what you need rather than a compromise between what's available.
The garden setting shows off the colours perfectly: green grass, spring leaves, daisies scattered across the lawn. The bike looks alive against all that growing green, because in some sense it is — bamboo was growing too, not that long ago.
Gravel geometry means this bike will handle country lanes as happily as bridleways. Those bars offer multiple hand positions for long days. The 1x drivetrain keeps things simple when terrain gets complicated.
Ultra-custom sounds intimidating, but it's really just attention to detail. Jonathan knew what he wanted and built it. The kit provided the foundation; his choices made it unique.
When standard isn't quite right, make it your own. Sorted, Jonathan. 🎋
