In the summer of 2020 Eric came with a friend to a weekend workshop not only to build a frame but also to do a second workshop to finish his frame and convert it to his unique commuter bike.

What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

I love to bike and I love to work with wood, so what’s better to combine the two and build my own bike from bamboo (technically not wood of course)!

What was the most challenging thing to do?

Creating the lugs for sure. Messy job, time sensitive and you need to do it right otherwise you will be sanding for hours.

Why would you recommend a weekend workshop?

It’s a really nice thing to do to spend some time building something you can use every day.

How does your bike ride?

It rides like any other bike, but maybe even a little bit better because you know you built it for yourself.

What has been the best experience so far while riding your bamboo bike?

Comments people make. Real bike enthusiasts immediately spot this unique one-of-a-kind bike. You will always end up having a nice chat with a stranger.
