Building at home has never been easier with our new lugged kits. Jason in #Victoria, #Australia ass

This is where it happens. Jason's workbench in Victoria, Australia, with a gravel frame taking shape on top of our technical drawing.

The lugged kit sits at that satisfying in-between stage: tubes mitered and fitted, joints taped and waiting for the final flax fibre wrap. The masking tape marks where the epoxy will go, protecting the bamboo's natural surface from any stray resin. Those laser-cut wooden stands hold everything in alignment while the work progresses.

Home builds are a different experience from workshop builds. There's no instructor timing the steps, no schedule to keep. You can spread the work across evenings and weekends, letting each stage cure properly before moving on. The trade-off is that you need to problem-solve alone — though our video guides and community forum mean you're never really stuck.

The drawing underneath shows all the critical measurements: head tube angle, seat tube angle, bottom bracket drop. These numbers translate hand movements into geometry, ensuring the finished frame will handle the way it's supposed to.

What catches the eye is the surrounding mess of a working space. Rulers, syringes for precise epoxy application, those bamboo mixing sticks scattered ready for use. A red bike in the background — probably the donor for components when this frame is finished.

Jason ordered the Gravel Lugged kit specifically designed for home builders. The pre-cut tubes and machined aluminium inserts take the intimidating metalwork out of the equation, letting you focus on the fibre wrapping and finishing where the craft really shows.

From Australia to the UK, the process is the same: tubes, fibres, patience, pride. Looking forward to seeing the finished build, Jason. 🇦🇺
