What started as a collection of bamboo tubes, jigs, and wrapping tape in a home workshop in Switzerland has become something truly special — a hand-built bamboo tandem designed for the school run and family holidays.

This colourful creation was built by one of our home-build kit customers, who wanted a sustainable, fun, and eye-catching way to travel with his family. Over several weeks, his workspace transformed into a small bamboo factory every joint carefully mitred, bonded, and wrapped with precision and patience. The process followed our Bamboo Bicycle Club home build kit method, adapted to create a custom three-person tandem.

Each section of the frame was finished in bright colours — red, orange, yellow, green, and blue — turning the final build into a joyful expression of creativity and craftsmanship. It’s as functional as it is beautiful: strong enough for daily commutes, yet light and smooth enough for scenic rides through the Swiss countryside.

Now this unique bamboo tandem carries kids to school, hauls gear for family holidays, and sparks smiles wherever it goes. It’s more than just a bike — it’s a statement about sustainable design, hands-on learning, and the freedom to build something truly personal.

From concept to creation, this project captures what Bamboo Bicycle Club is all about: empowering people to build their own bikes, their own way — and to ride together into new adventures.
