What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

An interesting project and I wanted something interesting to ride the Camino de Santiago, Via Ruta de la Plata from my home in Sevilla in Spring 2024.

Very definitely. The finished article is a source of enormous pleasure and you certainly get more of an understanding of how your bicycle performs dependent on how it is put together.

What did you find most difficult about your bike build?

What was the easiest part of the build? How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?

The ride is smooth with perhaps a little more flex than I am used to. The bicycle certainly attracts a lot of attention around my home here in Andalucia. I have had to learn some new Spanish vocab to describe the build….what is flax in Spanish anyway?

What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?

I selected bamboo for the chain stays that was too chunky. A notch had to be sanded out where the drive side pedal fouled the stay and my heel catches occasionally. I hope to be able to improve on this prototype in due course!
