Tutorials for Road Carbon Frame Build Kit
Hosted by James Marr, a bicycle designer and an engineer, in this series of tutorial videos James explains and instructs the viewer on how to build a bamboo bicycle frame using a Road Carbon Frame Build kit.
Our tutorial series takes you through each step of the build process for our latest home build kit, the Road Carbon Frame Build kit. You can access the playlist directly in the video above (symbol in the top right hand corner) or access each video individually below:

"Slashing the time to construct its bamboo road frame from around 70 hours down to just four hours with their new easy build option, the Bamboo Bicycle Club has impressively improved the accessibility of building a bamboo bicycle."
The Road Carbon Frame Build Kit tutorial series covers every stage of the BBC Easy Build process — from opening the kit box to taking your finished bamboo road bike out for its first ride. The series is designed to complement the printed build manual included with every kit, providing visual demonstrations of the techniques that are difficult to convey in text and diagrams alone.
The carbon lug system at the heart of the Easy Build Kit is fundamentally different from the traditional flax fibre method. Pre-moulded carbon fibre lugs are manufactured to precise geometry, so the frame's angles are determined by the lug set rather than by hand-wrapping. This removes the most technically demanding aspect of traditional bamboo frame building — joint geometry — and replaces it with a system that any careful builder can operate successfully.
The tutorial series covers: unboxing and kit inventory; bamboo culm inspection and selection; surface preparation for lug bonding; dry fit and alignment check; adhesive mixing and application; lug installation and clamping; cure monitoring and post-cure inspection; surface finishing — sanding, priming, painting and lacquering; and component installation including headset, bottom bracket, and drivetrain.
"Bamboo Bicycle Club follows a niche-manufacturing business model that prioritises knowledge-sharing over profit-making retail, charging for workshops and kits rather than pre-made products."
Each tutorial video in the series is available as a standalone watch for builders who need help with a specific stage, or as a complete playlist for those working through the build from scratch. Timestamps in each video allow easy navigation to specific steps. BBC technical support is available throughout your build via email, phone, and video call.
