A desire to upskill and learn more about bikes! Also to try something new and step out of my comfort zone.
Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?
Absolutely - embracing the process and surprising myself! I'd strongly recommend it - either for a gift experience or a treat for yourself (as in my case). I really enjoyed the learning process and the chance to be part of Bamboo Bicycle Club 🎉
What did you find most difficult about your bike build?
Honestly there's nothing that was negative, perhaps spending too much on snacks and train fares, but nothing I can fault about the build or experience. Even the bits that didn't go to plan I felt comfortable embracing as part and parcel of a self-build.
What was the easiest part of the build?
The company! Honestly the most enjoyable part of the workshop experience - so thank you everyone! ❤️ There was certainly a feeling that no question was too stupid/naïve and no mistake was unsalvageable (well a part from me splitting bamboo) - but certainly the atmosphere was the easiest thing!
How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?
As enthralling an experience as crafting it - smooth and keeps you on your toes (you never know what some terrains will feel like underwheel - but nothing has ever gone wrong or ever ended in disaster - much like the build). 10/10
What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?
Some cracks in the paintwork have appeared (due to my novice spray painting) - but after winter it'd be great to revisit the workshop to correct this. But honestly - I love my perfectly unique and one-off bicycle!
