What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?
I was amazed by the idea when I first heard about it. I have been trying to reduce my impact on the environment through recycling more, buying less, re-using items and reducing my meat consumption in favour of vegetarian and plant based meals. Because I love having a project and building things, building a bamboo bike would be a great way of getting a sense of satisfaction from building the bike and knowing I’m living a more sustainable lifestyle.
Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?
Yes I loved it. I had a few issues which needed correcting but overall it was a great learning experience and I would definitely recommend it. I am planning on doing another build next year.
What did you find most difficult about your bike build?
The rear triangle for some reason didn’t set right the first time so I had to take it apart and start over. Second time was perfect.
What was the easiest part of the build?
Once the frame was finished adding all the components.
How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?
Rides like dream. Very comfy!
What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?
Probably ask for spares to be included in the kits in case things don’t go to plan first time round.
