Road Carbon Bike by Alcinio
What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?
The taste for bicycles and for this type of projects, curiosity, comments from other users on the net, and the final aspect.
Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience ?
Although the whole process of my kit was very busy, from ordering to having all the material to complete the process, it was a great challenge since I never saw such a bike live and the information was obtained only from James' videos and the manual that comes with the mounting kit.
It's a project that I recommend to anyone interested in bicycles. On the road, everybody turns their heads to look at the bike 😊
What did you find most difficult about your bike build ?
The alignment of the entire frame is the most demanding if we want to obtain a good final product. As there was no previous experience, perhaps it was what made it difficult.
What was the easiest part of the build ?
Unpacking the kit 😊 The whole process is not difficult as long as you follow the instructions in the manual exactly. But maybe the glueing part turns out to be the simplest of the whole process
How would you describe the ride of your finished bike ?
Although I still used very little given the restrictions that currently exist for the movement of people in Portugal due to Covid-19.
There was a lot of fear at first, fearing that everything would break, but it quickly exceeded my expectations. After the final adjustments I find it very comfortable and efficient.
What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike ?
Definitely, the jig supports in MDF. I think they are the weak point of the whole assembly. If we tighten the grip a little, the screws easily come loose. And for those who have never assembled this and have little information, this happens easily.
