Richard's Gravel Bike

What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

Always wanted to build a bike and like working with wood so a bamboo bike seemed a perfect match.

Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?

Really enjoyed doing it took a bit longer than I expected but so did the furlough scheme, definitely recommend it if you need to kill time.

What did you find most difficult about your bike build?

The most difficult part of the build was the rear spacing for the 142mm hubs I used

What was the easiest part of the build?

The easiest part was the front triangle.

What advice would you give to other bamboo bike builders and what would you improve if anything?

I would definitely build another bamboo bike and take more care in wrapping hemp for a smoother finish.

How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?

The ride is brilliant really solid not the lightest but very reassuring.
