Neil really wanted to create a belt driven bamboo bicycle. We found it difficult to order in and ended up having to source from Germany! Belt drives are known for there smoothness and lightweight characteristics. They also do not require any lubricant (no nasty oil on your trousers!). For a bike to accommodate a belt drive you need to be able to ‘break the frame’. We achieved this by splitting the dropouts and rejoining once the belt had been incorporated.
We used standard components. The set are H-plus rims with BLB sealed hubs. Dia-compe headset with a Generic track bar. Stopping power comes form the dual pivot Tektro brakes.
